In planning mode - how much budget should I keep in mind for Indonesia - any experiences?

If you're doing just Bali and plan to go out a lot or stay near Canggu or Seminyak, your budget will go up fast. I spent like 60 to 70 USD a day there, easy.

I travel slow and cheap so Indonesia was perfect. I was doing about 25 USD per day easily. Some days even less. Stayed in dorms, ate mostly local food, and didn’t do too many paid tours. Bought a SIM card, used public ferries, and walked a lot. A month cost me around 800 dollars total.

Spent two weeks in Indonesia, mostly Java and Nusa Penida. My budget was roughly 40 bucks a day but I ended up spending less some days. Hostels were around 100k to 150k a night, meals like 30k for street food. I rented a scooter and used that everywhere so transport was cheap. Total came to just under 600 dollars for two weeks. Pretty solid value for what you get.

I travelled around Bali, Java and Lombok for a little over a month. My daily average spend was about 500,000 to 600,000 rupiah which is like 30 to 40 dollars. That covered hostels, meals, transport and the occasional snorkel tour or massage.
