I found a daily budget of BND 65 covered my food and transport smoothly in Bandar Seri Begawan. Dining near the Waterfront and using taxis or Grab apps kept expenses manageable. Tips weren’t mandatory but added about BND 2-3 per service.

Brunei isn’t that expensive to travel through if you plan well. About BND 70 a day covers meals at food courts, taxis within city limits, and small tips. I stayed near the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and mostly used ride-hailing services, which were budget-friendly.

I budgeted roughly $50 a day in Brunei for basic meals, local transport, and tips. Street food stalls near Gadong were affordable, and taxis cost around BND 7 for short rides. The city has reliable ATMs like Baiduri Bank for cash withdrawals which made managing money easy.

During my stay in Bandar Seri Begawan, I found that around BND 60-BND 80 ($45-$60 USD) daily was a comfortable budget for meals, taxis, and tipping. Eating at local spots like Tamu Kianggeh helped keep costs down, and taxis around the city typically cost BND 5-10 per ride. Staying at hotels like The Empire offered good value but did bump the budget up.
