Looking for reliable ATMs in Thailand that work well with foreign debit/credit cards and dont charge crazy fees. Any recos will be highly appreciated.
I used TTB Bank (formerly Thanachart) ATMs all over Bangkok and Pai. No issues with my Wise card. The fee was 220 THB, and max withdrawal limit was 20,000 THB. Machines were clean, usually attached to branches or malls. Pro tip: press ‘Decline Conversion’ when prompted - the local THB rate is way better than the ATM’s USD/AUD offer.
Euronet and Aeon machines are tourist traps. Fees were 250-300 THB, and DCC was pushed aggressively. Also, the rates were poor. I had way better luck with Bangkok Bank (blue machines) and SCB (purple ones) - both charged 220 THB, but the experience was smooth, and I could withdraw larger amounts (up to 30,000 THB at some branches). Defo look at the ones with a higher withdrawal limit so you get a much better value for money, if you need that much cash at one go, that is.
I found a CIMB Bank ATM in Chiang Mai (near Night Bazaar) and to my surprise, it didn’t charge any local ATM fee at all! Not sure if it was a one-off or location-specific, but worth checking. Monzo charged nothing on top. The machine worked fast and didn’t try to trap me into accepting conversion to GBP. Highly recommend trying CIMB if you see one.

I tried a bunch of ATMs during my trip Bangkok Bank, SCB, TTB - and Krungsri Bank (yellow ATMs) was the most consistent and smoothest with my Schwab card. Flat 220 THB fee, which seems to be the norm across Thailand. Machine was quick, didn’t push DCC too hard, and gave up to 20,000 THB in one go. That helps reduce per-withdrawal charges.
BBL (Bangkok Bank) ATMs are available 24x7. Very convenient.
KTB machines are light blue and kind of cute. Easy to spot!
Used my Wise card at a KTB ATM-no issues at all getting cash.
KTB has ATMs all over Thailand. Everything worked perfectly.
