Is it safe to withdraw cash in Indonesia or not?

Used one at the airport and in a Circle K and both were fine. I just try to avoid super quiet spots or ATMs that look too old or glitchy.

I’ve used ATMs in Jakarta, Bandung and Lombok. Never had an issue, but I always keep my withdrawals during daylight and I don’t take out huge amounts in one go. Try to use machines with cameras or a guard nearby

Yeah it’s mostly fine. I just don’t go at night or use random machines. The ones inside supermarkets or attached to banks felt safest to me.

I withdrew cash all over Bali and Yogyakarta with no problems but I always stuck to ATMs inside banks or malls. I avoided those sketchy ones in minimarts or on the street. Some looked like they hadn’t been serviced in months. If you go during the day and use well-known banks like BCA or Mandiri, it’s generally safe. Just cover your PIN and check the card slot.

Security guard at Bank Mandiri wasnt helpful and made the process difficult.

ATM at BCA Riau is guarded 24/7. So felt safe to use for nighttime withdrawals.

BCA is one of the most reliable ATM services in Bali. Secure and well maintained.

ATM at Permata worked well and allowed large withdrawals, but charges 50,000 IDR per use. Security was present outside and it felt safe.
