Ive tried several banks, and every time my card is declined. Its a Revolut card with enough balance. Is this a known issue in Thailand?
My Revolut card got declined at an ATM in Suvarnabhumi Airport right after I landed. Turned out I forgot to enable magstripe withdrawals in the Revolut app (off by default for security). Once I turned it on in the app settings, I tried a Krungsri ATM again and it worked like a charm.
I couldn’t withdraw cash at Kasikorn or Bangkok Bank, but had zero issues using Revolut at restaurants and 7-Eleven via contactless. Something about Thai ATMs and foreign fintech cards doesn’t always click. I started using Wise for cash, and kept Revolut for POS and online bookings.
Had multiple fails in Chiang Mai. Krungsri, TTB, and CIMB all declined my Revolut Visa, even after enabling magstripe in the app. Called Revolut support - they told me it’s a known issue in Thailand, often due to outdated ATM software. They recommended SCB or Kasikorn ATMs, and sure enough, SCB worked on the first try.
I had the same issue. Tried using my Revolut card at a Bangkok Bank ATM - declined, even though I had funds. Thought my card was blocked. Later that day, tried again at a Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) ATM and it worked perfectly. Seems some banks’ systems just don’t play nice with Revolut. Don’t panic - just try a different ATM brand.
