If you're planning a trip to Guyana, you need to know that it is not a backpacking destination. You should budget at least 100perday.The best way to save money is to use local transportation, like minivans, but be prepared for them to be slow. A ride from Georgetown to Linden can be G1,500. The best way to see the country is by booking an all-inclusive tour, which will be expensive but will cover all your transport, guides,

My experience in Guyana was a bit of a splurge, so my daily budget was well over $200. I stayed at eco-lodges and went on private tours, which added up quickly. For example, a trip to see the giant river otters at Iwokrama River Lodge costs a significant amount. I found that paying for a quality guide was worth it to truly experience the jungle. The local food is delicious and cheap, so that's one area where you can save a bit.

I'd say a realistic budget for a comfortable trip to Guyana is about 150aday.You′ll want to stay in decent guesthouses for around G15,000 per night and eat at restaurants. The real cost comes from travel to the interior. You'll need to book flights on small airlines like Trans Guyana Airways to get to the rainforest lodges, and those are not cheap. The Rupununi region is amazing for wildlife viewing, but the lodges there can cost over $100 per person per night.

Guyana is not a cheap country to travel in, especially if you want to explore the interior. You should budget at least $80-$120 per day. I found that the main expense is transportation and tours, particularly if you want to see Kaieteur Falls. A single-day trip to the falls from Georgetown can cost over $200. hotel at a place like the Aruwai Resort White H2O is on the pricier side, but you can find a basic guesthouse in Georgetown for around $50-70.Food is very affordable, with street food meals costing around G500.
