If you're heading to Suriname, especially Paramaribo’s hostel like Twenty4, bring enough SRD or USD-hostels are cash-only. Even if some touristy restaurants take cards, hostels don’t. Better to stock up at an ATM-plus, cards may incur fees or charges. Cash keeps your check‑in chill and avoids any surprises at reception when you're tired after flying.

When I rolled into Paramaribo, I tried paying with card at Twenty4 Hostel-they told me cash only, and that vibed with most of the guesthouses in old town. I had to grab SRD at an ATM in Gemenelandsstraat, then paid for my room and even a breakfast upgrade with cash. Airport taxis and souvenir stalls loved USD. In short, card ledgers stay in your wallet-cash rules here.

I stayed at Twenty4 Hostel near Centrale Markt and while they only accepted cash, it wasn’t a big deal-staff were super friendly and I just hit an ATM before arrival. Suriname uses SRD, and many shops around the city are happy with USD too. Honestly, it's low stress-cash keeps things smooth at hostels, and you dodge any surprise card surcharges that some places tack on.

In Paramaribo at Twenty4 Hostel (Jessurunstraat, old wooden house vibe), they only accept payment on arrival by cash-it’s the same with a couple of other guesthouses downtown. Even though restaurants around Waterkant sometimes take cards, the hostel scene is resolutely cash-based. I’d plan ahead and bring enough SRD or USD for your stay. It’s just easier than hunting down spotty POS machines or winding up scrambling for ATMs.
