Wondering if I need cash for taxis in Bolivia or if I can just pay with card or app like in other countries?
Taxis here are old-school. You wave them down, agree on a price, and pay in cash. I kept a stash of 10s and 20s just for this.
I used the 1Taxi app in Cochabamba, which lets you book rides like Uber, but even then I had to pay the driver in cash at the end.
Nope, don’t expect card readers. I always carried small notes just for rides. Most drivers don’t even have change for big bills.
Cash all the way. I tried to pay with card in La Paz and the driver looked at me like I was joking. Even in Santa Cruz, they want bolivianos. No apps either unless you’re using something local like EasyTaxi.
