Do buses in Ecuador accept card payments?

Trying to figure out if buses and metros in Ecuador take cards or if Ill need small cash. Any recent experiences?

Everywhere I went it was coins or transit cards only.

In Cuenca the new tram system uses smart cards too. You top up with cash at a booth or vending machine, then tap in.

I rode the trolley buses in Quito and it’s cash only. Drivers expect you to hand them exactly 25 cents.

I use the Metrovia buses in Guayaquil almost every day and you have to tap a Tarjeta de Transporte scmart card...no coins or bills allowe
