Can I use a card to pay for taxis in Brazil, or should I carry local cash?

Used Uber and 99 app the whole time in Recife and Brasília. Paid with my Revolut card through the app. Never needed cash for taxis at all. Easier and safer too.

Not all cabs take cards. especially in smaller cities or late night. i kept R$100 cash on me just in case. just make sure to withdraw money from an ATM at daytime, i used mainly satander... also some drivers said their machine was “broken” when it clearly wasn’t lol.

In Rio and São Paulo most taxis I took accepted card. They had those wireless machines... I used my Wise Visa with no problem. Just always ask before the ride starts.
