Need cash when I land, best place in Dominica? Airport or places in the city?
I usually exchange a small amount at the airport in Dominica to cover transport and then find better rates at Forex bureaus in Roseau’s main shopping district. Banks like Republic Bank also offer decent exchange rates. ATMs are reliable in the capital but carrying local cash is still essential for smaller markets.
Exchange counters at Dominica’s airports don’t offer great rates. I recommend using banks or official money changers in Roseau for better deals. ATMs near the bus station and Douglas-Charles area work, but have limits. Carrying EC dollars in cash on arrival makes getting around easier.
At Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica, I avoided using the exchange counters because of bad rates and fees. My advice is exchange cash in Roseau city at places like Scotia Bank or the Forex Bureau on Victoria Street. ATMs in town, especially at National Bank of Dominica, dispense EC dollars and are more card-friendly.
The Dominica airport does have currency exchange counters, but rates aren’t great. I usually grab a little cash on arrival and then head to Roseau, where places like the Roseau Currency Exchange Centre or banks like Republic Bank offer better rates. ATMs are mostly reliable in town, but always have some cash as backup since not everywhere accepts cards.
