Trying to plan ahead so any know if card payments are common at hostels in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines or cash is king?
Many budget hostels in Kingstown and the Grenadines want cash only, including popular spots like Lamberts Guesthouse. I recommend withdrawing Eastern Caribbean dollars from ATMs like those at Republic Bank as cards are often not accepted for smaller payments at hostels. Always have backup cash.
If you’re staying at places like Buccament Bay Resort or some local lodges around Wallilabou, cards work well. But for smaller hostels and guesthouses in Saint Vincent, cash is king. I used local ATMs at NCB and Republic Bank for EC dollars to make sure I had enough on hand.
Card payments are accepted at a few hostels and resorts in Kingstown, such as Villa Beach Cottages, but I found many smaller places and guesthouses in Bequia or Mustique prefer cash. It’s smart to carry Eastern Caribbean dollars for daily expenses and smaller lodging bookings.
Hostels like Turtle Beach Hotel in Kingstown accept cards, mostly Visa and Mastercard, but many smaller guesthouses and budget hotels prefer cash payments. ATMs at Republic Bank and First Citizens Bank dispense EC dollars easily, so grab some cash before your stay just in case.
