Wondering if I need cash for taxis in Jamaica or if I can just pay with card or app like in other countries?
I was in Kingston and Montego Bay, and taxis there worked only with cash. None of the drivers I met had a card machine, and they looked confused when I asked. Jamaica is definitely not a place where you can skip carrying cash for transport. In tourist spots, US dollars worked fine, but everywhere else it was Jamaican dollars. Apps weren’t really an option, so I just carried cash and it saved me a lot of hassle.
