Is it better to pay taxis in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?
For taxis in St Vincent and the Grenadines, cash is king. I tried using a payment app once and got a weird look. Local taxis want immediate cash payment, so keep EC dollars handy. For airport transfers or big tour operators, cards might work, but don’t rely on that.
I stayed near Kingstown and found that paying taxis in cash was the way to go. Driver acceptance of cards or apps is basically zero here outside of private tours. So if you’re budgeting, pull cash from an Ecobank ATM to cover transport.
My experience was mostly cash taxis in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Just about everywhere I went, drivers expected cash upfront. Payment apps or cards weren’t common, even in Kingstown. If you want hassle-free rides, carry enough cash for your trips.
In St Vincent, it’s definitely easier to pay taxis with cash. Most drivers don’t have card machines or accept apps. I mostly used Eastern Caribbean dollars in cash, which everyone seemed happy with. Some bigger tour companies might take cards, but on the street, bring cash just to be safe.
