Is it better to pay taxis in Guadeloupe with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?
If you want no stress in Guadeloupe, carry cash for taxis. Most drivers still cash-only but you’ll get lucky sometimes with card machines. Don’t count on payment apps for taxis around the islands.
I stayed in Le Gosier and mostly paid taxi drivers with euro cash. A few taxis had card readers, but it’s not guaranteed. Payment apps like Apple Pay are rare for taxis so better have cash ready.
Guadeloupe taxis often expect cash but some, especially airport or hotel taxis, accept cards. I carried cash for short-distance taxis and used cards for bigger transfers. Apps aren’t yet widely accepted here.
In Guadeloupe, some taxis take cards, especially in tourist hotspots like Pointe-à-Pitre, but cash is still king. I used euros mostly and paid cash to avoid any tech issues. Apps aren’t common for taxis.
