Not sure if I should carry coins for public transport in Canada or if card payments are common. Advice?

Honestly, big cities like Toronto and Vancouver make it easy with contactless card

In Vancouver I tapped my Revolut card on the Compass reader and it worked fine. But once I was on a bus in Victoria and the driver wanted exact change. So... depends where u go.

Used the STM in Montreal and it was old school. I needed exact change or had to buy tickets at the station with cash or card. Didn’t see any tap-to-pay on buses. Keep coins handy there.

In Toronto you can just tap your Visa or Mastercard right at the PRESTO gates for buses, streetcars, and subways. No need to buy a card or carry coins. Super smooth.
