Travelling soon and looking for best ATMs in Dominica that work well with foreign debit/credit cards and dont charge crazy fees. Any recos will be highly appreciated.
The Royal Bank of Dominica has the clearest track record for foreign card withdrawals. While ATM fees are not always zero, they’re lower than many independent ATMs. Daily limits for foreigners generally run up to EC$1,500, enough for most visitor needs. If you’re on a budget, it’s smart to withdraw once or twice a day with a travel card like Wise to avoid excessive fees. I found the airport ATM okay but slightly pricier.
Dominica’s banking options are smaller but well suited for travelers with international cards. Republic Bank Dominica ATMs, especially in Portsmouth and Roseau, accepted my Visa debit with minimal fees and daily limits spread fairly wide, around $1,500 EC. Tourist hubs are cash-heavy, so I always kept some on hand for smaller purchases. Stick to banks and avoid convenience store ATMs for better security and rates.
I had a mostly smooth experience using my Mastercard at Republic Bank ATMs in Dominica. Limited ATM network means it’s best to plan ahead and withdraw enough cash. Fees per transaction were nearly EC$3-5, so withdrawing larger sums less often was a good budget-friendly strategy. Daily withdrawal max was about EC$1,500 per bank ATM. Many hostels, like Jungle Bay, advised me to always use bank ATMs instead of Payzone machines.
Dominica is quite friendly to travelers using foreign cards. I mainly withdrew cash at Republic Bank Dominica and Royal Bank Dominica ATMs in Roseau. Fees were low, usually just a few dollars per transaction, and daily withdrawal limits were about EC$1,500. Visa debit cards worked smoothly. I’d recommend avoiding standalone ATMs near tourist areas-stick with bank branches and you’ll save money.
