Travelling soon and looking for best ATMs in Barbados that work well with foreign debit/credit cards and dont charge crazy fees. Any recos will be highly appreciated.
On my Barbados trip, I mainly used FirstCaribbean International ATMs in Holetown. My Wise Mastercard worked fine with a limit of 3000 BBD and zero fees. Republic Bank ATMs in Bridgetown were also reliable with my Revolut Visa and had a 3,000 BBD limit. I usually withdrew once every three days for food, taxis, and beach bars. While cards are widely accepted in hotels, cash is essential for local vendors and public transport. Barbados ATMs were generally easy to use for foreigners.
ATMs in Barbados can be hit or miss. My Chase debit card was declined at a Scotiabank machine in St. Lawrence Gap. When it worked, it was fee-free and the withdrawal limit was 3,00 BBD. Republic Bank seemed more reliable, but even there, machines sometimes ran out of cash at weekends. I’d recommend withdrawing larger amounts during the week and carrying USD as backup since many places accept it alongside Barbados dollars.
I had no problem getting cash in Barbados. Republic Bank ATMs accepted my Revolut Visa and let me withdraw 3,000 BBD in one go and with no fees. CIBC FirstCaribbean worked fine with my Monzo Mastercard, and the limit was 800 BBD at least at the ATM I tried. Honestly, it was easier than I expected for a Caribbean island. I only withdrew twice during my stay because most hotels and big restaurants accepted cards. Cash was mainly useful for beach shacks, vans, and tipping.
In Barbados, the most reliable ATMs for foreign cards are Republic Bank, FirstCaribbean International (CIBC), and Scotiabank. I used my HSBC debit at Republic Bank in Bridgetown, and the withdrawal limit was 1,000 BBD (~$500 USD). None of the ATMs charged any fees to my foreign card. Scotiabank machines accepted Visa and Mastercard without issue. ATMs are widely available in Bridgetown and Holetown, but fewer near rural beaches.
