ATMs in Canada keep asking With or Without Conversion - what is this DCC?

mportant tip: “With conversion” = Dynamic Currency Conversion = BAD. I used my Wise card at a Scotiabank ATM and chose “without.” No surprises!!

I pressed "With conversion" the first time ‘cause it sounded safer lol. Ended up losing like 8%. After that I always did “Without conversion” and it was fin 👌

The screen popped up at a TD TRust ATM saying something like "accept our rate" with a terrible conversion. I hit Decline Conversion and my bank gave me a way better deal

Always choose without conversion. The ATM will try to show you your home currency and say it’s more “convenient”...but they use a worse rate and charge a hidden markup. Hppaned to me at Scotiabank once...
