No issues elsewhere, but in Canada, both ATMs and stores keep rejecting my card. Anyone know if this is common? Any banks that actually work?
Yeah, Canada’s surprisingly picky. RBC and Scotiabank were the most reliable for withdrawals with my European debit. Used contactless everywhere else, some machines were fussy with chip cards but fine with tap.
Some terminals just don’t recognise foreign fintech cards. I had issues with N26 at restaurants in Vancouver, but it worked fine at CIBC and even at an Desjardins Canada ATM. I also enabled magstripe in my app...not sure if that helped or not.
My Revolut card kept getting rejected at some POS terminals in Toronto. But it worked perfectly at Scotiabank ATMs and most chain stores like Shoppers Drug Mart.
Had the same thing happen with my Wise Visa in Montreal...worked fine in Europe but got declined at a TD Bank ATM and two corner stores. For payments, once I started using Apple Pay with the same card, it worked in most places.
