Dont want to carry too much or too little. Whats the average cash people carry when travelling around Yemen?
My experience in Yemen meant budgeting about $65 a day. Eating fresh food markets, paying cash for taxis in Al-Sabeen district, and occasionally hiring guides for historical sites were the main costs.
Yemen’s daily costs mainly depend on food and transport, with around $60 fitting most travelers. I stayed near the Old City in Sana’a, taking taxis that usually cost around 500-1,000 YER for short rides, and eating at local eateries.
I found Yemen moderately affordable, with around $55 daily covering food, taxis, and cultural sites in Aden. Since card use is limited, I withdrew cash from Yemen Commercial Bank ATMs and carried small riyals for convenience.
Traveling in Sana’a, budgeting about 15,000 to 18,000 YER ($60-$70) per day was realistic. Meals at local restaurants near Bab al-Yemen, taxis, and occasional guided tours fit easily into this budget. Hotels like the Crowne Plaza command higher prices but offer good amenities.
