In planning mode - how much budget should I keep in mind for Kuwait - any experiences?
I spent a couple weeks in Kuwait and noticed food was fair but taxis drained me. A shawarma meal was $5, but dining in malls was $20+. Each taxi ride was $8-10, and I needed them daily. Tips were always 10%. My average daily cost was about $70, though some days hit $90 with cafés and extras. Kuwait isn’t cheap, but it’s manageable if you stick to local spots. For planning, $65-75 per day is safe for meals, taxis, and tips.
Meals: $5-8 local, $15-20 mid-range. Transport: buses under $1, taxis $7-10. Tips: 10%. Safe daily budget: $60-70 for meals, transport, and tips. Add $10-15 for mall visits or Western food. Kuwait is less tourist-oriented than Dubai, so prices stay high for taxis and restaurants but not outrageous. A month-long stay averages $2,000 if you’re eating local often and avoiding unnecessary taxis.
I averaged about $75 daily in Kuwait. Meals at casual restaurants were $10-12, while international places and mall dining were $20-25. Taxis were my main expense at $7-12 per ride, and tips were 10%. At this budget, I could eat well, enjoy coffee shops, and get around easily without buses. Kuwait doesn’t have a lot of budget tourism infrastructure, but $70-80 daily is realistic for meals, transport, and tips. Entertainment adds more if you like malls or cafés daily.
Kuwait is not a cheap stop, but local eats make it easier. Shawarma and falafel plates cost $3-5, and full meals in mid-range restaurants are $8-1Taxis dominate transport at $5-10 per ride since buses are less convenient for visitors. Tips are 10%. A budget traveller can get by on $45-50 daily, mainly eating local and limiting taxis. For long stays, it adds up, but day-to-day basics aren’t extreme compared to Gulf neighbors like Dubai.
