Is it better to pay taxis in Iran with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?
For taxis in Iran, cash is still king. I used rial coins and notes for rides everywhere. If you want to use apps like Snapp or Tap30, you still need cash for the driver. Cards don’t work directly.
When I visited Iran, I found that paying taxis with cash was the norm across Tehran and Isfahan. Cards or payment apps aren’t an option for most drivers yet.
Taxis in Iran do not take cards or mobile payments. Cash is expected - usually Iranian rial, sometimes USD in bigger cities. Apps like Snapp require cash payment too.
Iran’s a cash-based country for taxis. I tried paying by card in Tehran and was flat out told no. Even rideshare apps mostly want cash at the door. Bring enough IRR or USD to get around.
