I need to take out quite a bit of cash during my trip. Anyone know cheapest ATMs & daily withdrawal limits for foreign cards at Bahrain ATMs?

During my Bahrain visit, I mainly used National Bank of Bahrain and Ahli United Bank ATMs. My Wise Visa worked fine at NBB with BHD 200 limits and a BHD 1 fee. Ahli United Bank was even better with BHD 250 withdrawals on my Revolut Mastercard. I withdrew once for taxis, local meals, and souks, while everything else was card-friendly. ATMs were safe and widely available, especially in malls and hotels. Bahrain was one of the easiest Gulf states for managing money.

Bahrain ATMs can be inconsistent with limits. My HSBC debit was capped at BHD 150 at BBK with a fee of BHD 1.5. Some smaller bank ATMs even rejected my card. I ended up using NBB as the most reliable option, with BHD 200 per withdrawal. The fees weren’t high, but the low limits meant more transactions. If you need larger sums, it’s better to withdraw less frequently and stick with bigger banks in central Manama.

Bahrain was really straightforward for cash. My Monzo Mastercard worked perfectly at Ahli United Bank ATMs, letting me withdraw BHD 250 with only a BHD 1 fee. NBB also accepted my Revolut Visa. I withdrew just once during my trip since most restaurants, taxis, and hotels accepted card payments. Compared to other Gulf countries, I found Bahrain’s ATMs easy to use with clear English instructions, and I never had a rejection. It was a stress-free experience overall.

In Bahrain, the most reliable ATMs are from National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Ahli United Bank, and Bank of Bahrain & Kuwait (BBK). I used my Wise Visa at NBB in Manama, with a limit of BHD 200 (~$530 USD) per transaction and a BHD 1 fee. Ahli United Bank allowed BHD 250 with my Revolut Mastercard. BBK ATMs worked with my Monzo card but capped me at BHD 150. Machines are widely available in malls, petrol stations, and airports.
