In planning mode - how much budget should I keep in mind for Bosnia and Herzegovina - any experiences?

I loved Bosnia for how affordable it was. My daily coffee in Sarajevo was €1.50, burek snacks were €2, and dinners with beer rarely topped €1Public trams were €1, and buses to Mostar cost €1Tips were 10% but never pushed. My daily average was about €40, including meals, transport, and tips. Some days in Mostar I spent even less, €25 total. Bosnia gave me one of the best values in Europe, and I’d recommend €40 daily as a safe and comfortable number.

Meals: €3-6 casual, €10-15 sit-down. Transport: €1 city tickets, €12 intercity buses. Tips: 10%. A safe budget is €35-40 for meals, transport, and tips. That covers three meals, a couple of rides, and tips daily. Museums or excursions add €5-10. Compared to Western Europe, Bosnia is much cheaper but still has great food and culture. For a month, €1,200 is plenty for comfort and exploring.

I spent around €45-50 daily in Sarajevo and Mostar. Meals in restaurants with drinks were €10-15, coffee €2, and pastries €Taxis were €5-7, and buses across cities €12-15. Tipping 10% was standard. With €50 daily, I could eat well, take taxis when needed, and enjoy museum entries or day trips. Bosnia is affordable, but this budget let me relax without worrying about cutting corners. It’s one of Europe’s hidden gems for travellers who want culture without high costs.

Bosnia is fantastic for value. Meals in local restaurants are €4-6, with cevapi or burek often under €Coffee is €1-Public transport in Sarajevo is €1 per ride, and intercity buses €10-15. Tips are 10% in restaurants. A safe daily budget is €25-30 for meals, transport, and tips. I stayed for a month and never felt pressed. Bosnia is one of the cheapest parts of Europe, especially compared to Croatia next door, so it’s great for longer stays.
