When I visited Gibraltar, my wallet felt it! It’s like a mini-London but with monkeys on the Rock. Food was the main hit - a simple meal near Casemates Square was £12, and a nicer dinner was £25+. Buses are easy and cheap, though I often walked since it’s small. Tips were similar to what I do in the UK - 10% and nothing more. I’d say £50 daily was my safe comfort zone. Anything less meant living off groceries, which isn’t terrible but misses out on Gibraltar’s pub culture.

Meals are the main budget point in Gibraltar. Expect £10 for a quick lunch, £20+ for a sit-down dinner with drinks. Transport is negligible - buses cost a couple of pounds per ride or £7 for a week. Tipping is similar to the UK, about 10%. So in daily numbers: £40-60 will cover meals, local transport, and tips. If you like eating in Ocean Village restaurants or at The Rock Hotel, budget higher (£70+). Staying longer means you can save by crossing into Spain for cheaper food and shopping.

I stayed for two weeks and averaged about £50-60 per day, which felt about right. Breakfast and lunch in cafes usually cost £6-8 each, while dinners by the harbour with drinks were closer to £20-25. Bus passes are cheap (£7 unlimited weekly), so that keeps local travel light on the pocket. Tipping is more UK-style, 10-12%. If you’re planning day trips into Spain, factor in extra for transport and meals across the border. Gibraltar isn’t cheap, but it’s small enough to manage costs if you plan well.

Gibraltar surprised me - it feels like London prices in the sun. If you stick to groceries and small cafes, you can manage $35-40 per day. A sandwich or fish and chips runs around £6-10, while dinner in a casual pub is £12-15. Public buses are cheap (£1.80 a ride), so transport isn’t the issue. Tipping isn’t huge, 10% is fine. If you avoid the pricier Marina Bay restaurants and cook some meals, it’s manageable. But honestly, you can’t expect true backpacker pricing here.
