Wondering if I need cash for taxis in Poland or if I can just pay with card or app like in other countries?
Uber and Free Now both work in Poland and support card payments. I didn’t use cash once in a week. Just avoid random taxis outside the train stations...they’re hit or miss with card acceptance.
I paid with Mastercard in a taxi in Gdańsk, no problem. But the driver in Zakopane said his machine was “broken” and wanted cash. I had to run to a nearby ATM 😩 best to use Citi or Millenium ATM - 0 fees. so yeah, carry some złoty just in case.
used Bolt app the whole time, super cheap and paid directly with card inside the app. no need for cash at all. way better than hailing random street taxis.
Most taxis in Warsaw and Kraków take card now, even contactless. I used my Wise Visa without any issues. Just double-check before getting in, older drivers sometimes say “cash only.”
