ATMs in Poland keep asking Accept or Decline Conversion - what does that mean? Shows high charges for this

yeah those Euronet ATMs love to push conversion. they even highlight “Accept” in green to trick you. just hit decline and your Revolut or N26 will do the job properly.

Simple rule: decline conversion always. The ATM is trying to do you a "favour" but it's really just a way to add fees. I tested it with my Wise card, declined conversion gave me way better exchange rate. used millennium most the time, no fees.

ugh I fell for that once in Kraków. accepted conversion coz it showed me the amount in GBP and I thought it was safer. turns out I lost like £12 on that one withdrawal. now I hit decline every time.

That’s called Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). If you accept, the ATM converts the currency for you at a really bad rate - sometimes 8-10% worse than your bank’s rate. Always choose Decline, so your card provider handles the exchange instead. Use Citi ATM - no fees there!
