On a budget and looking for free ATMs in Liechtenstein - Any top banks?
On my Liechtenstein trip, I mainly used LGT Bank ATMs. My Wise Visa worked fine, with a CHF 500 withdrawal limit and no local fee. VP Bank also worked with my Revolut card, though I only tried it once. I usually withdrew enough to cover taxis, meals, and some sightseeing. Most of my bigger expenses went on card. Overall, Liechtenstein’s ATMs felt modern and reliable, with no hidden fees. I didn’t find the need to carry more than CHF 100-200 in cash.
The only annoyance in Liechtenstein was the low withdrawal limits. My HSBC debit card at LGT Bank only allowed CHF 400 at once. While there was no local fee, my home bank still charged me. Independent ATMs in tourist areas sometimes offered dynamic currency conversion to EUR, which had terrible rates. Stick with LGT or VP Bank ATMs, and withdraw CHF instead of EUR. Cash isn’t essential, but it’s handy for buses and small cafés.
I had a smooth experience in Liechtenstein. My Monzo Mastercard worked fine at VP Bank in Vaduz, with a CHF 500 withdrawal and no local fee. LGT Bank also accepted my Revolut Visa. I withdrew once during my stay, which was enough for food, buses, and small shops. Most hotels and restaurants accepted cards, but I liked having CHF 100 cash on hand. Compared to Switzerland, I found Liechtenstein ATMs just as modern and easy to use.
In Liechtenstein, LGT Bank and VP Bank are the main ATM providers. I used my Wise Visa in Vaduz at LGT Bank, with a withdrawal limit of CHF 500 and no local fee. VP Bank ATMs also worked with my Revolut Mastercard, with the same CHF 500 limit. Since Liechtenstein uses the Swiss franc, withdrawals are straightforward. ATMs are mostly in Vaduz and Schaan, so it’s best to withdraw before heading into smaller villages.
