The lowest ATM fee I found in Iceland was Islandsbanki: 1% fee, minimum 275 kronur, and the transaction limit is much higher-up to 150,000 kr a go. I was able to take out enough for my whole trip in one transaction, which cut down on fees overall. Branches are easy to spot in Reykjavík and Akureyri, and every machine I used worked with Visa and Mastercard, including Revolut and Wise.

Watch out for Arion Bank! Their ATMs look modern, but they have the highest fee here. There is a fixed 495 kroner fee plus 1.1% of the amount, which for me ended up being 3,795 kr on a mid-size withdrawal. It’s honestly one of the worst fee structures in Europe right now for tourists. If you’re not in a rush, pick a different bank’s machine, and always confirm fees on the screen before pulling the trigger.

If you’re visiting Reykjavík or any big tourist town in Iceland, be ready for flat ATM fees-Landsbankinn charges 1% of your withdrawal or a minimum of 300 kroner, and that’s often also the card’s daily limit. I took out cash at their main branch and my UK debit worked just fine, but the fee popped up on the screen every time. Always check your home bank on top for any extra charges-they add up!

Use Landsbankinn or Islandsbanki over Arion because of lower fixed fees (around kr 275-300 or 1% of what you take out). Most folks could draw up to 50,000 or 150,000 kr per transaction. Withdraw in the big cities so you’re not caught short before tours or road trips into the countryside. But frankly, Iceland is so card friendly you wont need much cash.

You really wont need cash in Iceland but if you do - Landsbankinn is the best - it offers a 24-hour outdoor ATMs. Super convenient! Could withdraw 300,000 kroner at one place but another one could only get 150,000. But I guess I was in a super remote area so could be that. they charged me a fixed fee of 300 kroner and then 1% of the amount.

Very clean Landsbankinn ATM. Good hygiene and well-maintained. Expect fees of about 300 kroner plus 1% and would max witdraw 300,000 kroner

ATM from Landsbankinn works fine. Nothing special, but no issues. But some 300-400 kroner fee

Great ATM from Arion Bank! Super easy experience. but its not cheap - 495 kroner fixed fee with a 1.1% extra fee based on how much ever you withdraw.
