Just used an ATM in Albania and it asked me to accept or decline conversion. I chose Accept but now Im not sure if I paid extra fees. Can someone explain what this means and whats the right option?

Accept = expensive
Decline = better rate
I did a test with my N26 card on Fibank ATM: declining conversion saved me about 500 lek on a 20,000 lek withdrawal. That adds up fast.

Yes, that’s a classic trap called Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). Happened to me at Tirana Bank - ALWAYS decline. will save you some money!

At FIBANK, if youre asked to accept conversion, go with Decline Conversion - itll save you on extra currency fees.

Union Bank might prompt for conversion - choose Decline Conversion to avoid losing money on the exchange rate.
