Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Albania or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.
I was alone in Tirana and used the OTP Bank ATM across from a 24h market one night. No problems, but I held my bag close and left quickly.
I was in Saranda and Gjirokaster last month, never felt unsafe, even after 9pm. That said, I avoided street corner ATMs. I’d use the one at Credins Bank inside a lit-up building. Just felt more secure.
i used ATMs at night a few times in tirana, no one bothered me. but I stuck to spots near Skanderbeg Square or inside petrol stations.
I’m a woman and travelled solo through Tirana and Berat. I never had a problem withdrawing cash at night, but I always used ATMs that were either inside bank lobbies or attached to shopping centres.
The ATM worked fine, but the security guard at Tirana Bank was unnecessarily rude. Kinda put a damper on the experience.
Used the Intesa ATM in Tirana and wow, the queue was insane. Be ready to wait if you go during the day. Evenings are safe and less crowded
You can withdraw euros from this RAIFFEISEN ATM, but the fee is quite steep. In April 2024, I paid 6 EUR or 800 Lek just to take out cash kind of expensive.
Honestly disappointed with RAIFFEISEN in Albania. It took over an hour and a half just for the cashiers to refill the ATM around 1 PM. Pretty poor service when you ire in need of cash.
