Luxury costs $250-$300 daily. Hotels $120, guided tours like helicopter rides in Franz Josef $300, and dinners $60. If you’re not shy with spending, New Zealand offers many premium activities.

Road tripping with campervan rental cost me $150 daily. Camper was $80, gas $30, and campsites $10-$20. Groceries were $20. But the freedom was amazing-Milford Sound and Rotorua geothermal parks were highlights ($30-$40 entry).

I spent $120 a day traveling New Zealand mid-range. Airbnb rooms $50, eating out $25-$30, and car rental split with friends $40 daily. Attractions like Hobbiton were $55 entry, so activities do raise costs. $100-$120 is a good mid-range budget.

Backpacking New Zealand cost me $70 daily. Hostels were $25, meals $15 if cooking groceries, and intercity buses $20. Hikes like Tongariro Crossing are free, so activities can be cheap if you stick to nature. I skipped paid tours to stay low.
