Need cash when I land, best place in Niue? Airport or places in the city?
Best advice for Niue: carry all your NZD before arriving because the airport lacks exchange counters. ATMs at Alofi are limited, and there are basically no formal currency exchange centers in town. Many locals prefer cash, so it’s wise to plan your money budget before landing.
Niue’s airport has no currency exchange. Carry enough New Zealand dollars since that’s the official currency. I used an ATM at the Niue Island Resort but had to manage my cash since there are very few exchange services on the island. Credit cards aren’t widely accepted.
When I landed in Niue, I knew there were no airport exchange facilities, so I brought NZD with me. Cash is still the primary payment method here, with limited ATM options mainly at Alofi Village Pharmacy and the resort. City exchange centers don’t really exist, so prepare accordingly.
Niue’s small airport doesn’t have currency exchange counters, so bring New Zealand dollars (NZD) with you. ATMs are scarce but available at the Niue Island Resort or Island Breeze complex in Alofi. Most places accept cash only, so having enough NZD at arrival is important.
