Is it better to pay taxis in Norfolk Island with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?
If you want to get around Norfolk Island without any hassle, use cash to pay your taxis. Drivers don’t accept cards or payment apps. Luckily, the ANZ ATM in Burnt Pine is reliable, so you can pull what you need and be safe.
From my time on Norfolk Island, cash is definitely the way to pay taxi drivers. Even though there’s a decent ATM, card or mobile payment options just aren’t around. Plan to withdraw enough from ANZ or bring cash from Australia for smooth travels.
I tried asking about card payments in Norfolk taxis, but was told it’s all cash. The island's pretty remote, so drivers don’t have digital payment setups. Bring enough Aussie dollars in cash for your taxi rides, especially if you’re staying outside town.
Norfolk Island’s pretty small and laid back - most taxi drivers expect cash. I didn’t see any card terminals in taxis during my stay. The ANZ ATM in Burnt Pine is your best friend for cash withdrawals. Apps or cards aren’t really a thing with local taxi drivers.
