Trying to figure out if buses and metros in Tuvalu take cards or if Ill need small cash. Any recent experiences?
Public transit in Tuvalu is minimal-no metro or buses. Taxis are very rare and expect cash. Make sure to bring small bills in NZD or Tuvaluan dollars. I didn’t see any card payments accepted for transport, so cash is essential if you’re moving around.
Tuvalu is all about simplicity, so buses and metros don’t exist. Taxis and private vehicles are your option, and cash payment is the norm. I kept some NZD ready since most locals accept that or Tuvaluan currency. Cards won’t work on transport here-have cash.
If you’re planning on using transport in Tuvalu, take cash. There are no buses or metro, just a few taxis around Funafuti, and they only take cash. Bring New Zealand dollars or Tuvaluan dollars in small denominations for hassle-free rides.
Tuvalu’s public transport is pretty much non-existent-no buses or metro to speak of. Most people get around on foot, bikes, or private taxis. When I was there, I had to pay for taxis in cash-mostly Tuvaluan dollars or NZD. So definitely carry small bills, cards won’t help on transport here since infrastructure is minimal.
