Travelling soon and looking for best ATMs in Marshall Islands that work well with foreign debit/credit cards and dont charge crazy fees. Any recos will be highly appreciated.
For backpackers and island hoppers, keep in mind that only Bank of Guam ATMs are available and have a $5 fee. Don’t count on finding ATMs outside Majuro-there really aren’t any. I always grab the max $1,000 as that is the withdrawal limit, leave it in the locker at my hostel.
Everyone I met at the Marshall Islands Resort said the same-Bank of Guam ATMs work with most foreign cards, but the $5 fee is non-negotiable and withdrawal limits are $1,000 per transaction. I never needed to stand in line for long, but machines do get emptied over big local festivals. Split larger cash needs across a couple of days if you don’t want to risk running short.
It’s pretty straightforward in the Marshalls: only Bank of Guam has ATMs, mostly along the main strip in Majuro. Swiped my Visa debit and got hit with a $5 withdrawal fee but had no problems with connectivity. $1,000 is the upper transaction limit, so plan accordingly if you’re heading to outer atolls where cash is king and digital payments almost never accepted.
Bank of Guam is the only game in town for ATMs in Majuro. My Monzo and Chase cards both worked, but expect a $5 fee every time and a max withdrawal of $1,000 per transaction. Machines are central, especially near MIR Hotel and Robert Reimers, but can get busy after payday. Best strategy is to plan cash needs ahead and take out the full $1,000 where possible to save on overall fees.
