My credit card keeps declining in Palau and I have enough money on there and all international transactions are activated - what do I do?
I had declines in Palau mainly due to transaction security blocks. Your bank might think the charges are fraudulent. Call them and mention Palau specifically. Use the Bank of Guam ATM in Koror and carry some USD cash as many small vendors don't take cards.
If your credit card is acting up in Palau, it’s often network issues or regional blocks. I contacted my bank before traveling to whitelist Palau and stopped decline problems. Plenty of POS terminals accept cards, but small shops prefer cash. So always have USD bills ready.
When my card kept declining in Palau, I realized some merchants only accept Visa, while my card was Mastercard. Calling the bank to unblock or check international limits helped. ATMs at Bank of Guam worked fine for me. Palau uses USD, so cash withdrawals are straightforward-carry backup cash.
Palau’s a small place, so some cards might unexpectedly decline despite being valid. I found calling my bank to clear travel alerts fixed my problem. Many places accept Visa and Mastercard, but you want to have both just in case. Cash in USD is also widely accepted, so keep plenty on hand.
