Luxury in Nepal is still affordable. I spent $120 daily on private guides, upscale hotels ($60-$80), and domestic flights. Everest Base Camp trek package was $1,200 for 12 days including lodging and meals, averaging $100 per day. For high comfort, budget $100+.

I did Nepal mid-range, about $70 daily. Boutique hotels in Kathmandu were $30, flights to Pokhara $100 return, and trekking with a porter was $20 a day. Meals in Thamel tourist restaurants cost $10. If you want comfort, $60-$80 daily is enough.

My budget was $45 daily because I booked guided treks. Guesthouses on the Annapurna Circuit were $5-$8, but meals in higher villages went up to $10-$1In Kathmandu, dinner at nicer places like Fire & Ice Pizza was $15. Treks, permits, and guides push costs higher but still cheap compared to elsewhere.

Nepal is one of the cheapest countries I’ve visited. I averaged $25 a day: $6 hostel in Thamel, $5 meals (dal bhat), and $10 trekking permits in Pokhara. Buses were $2-$5 per ride. You can live on $20-$30 a day easily as a backpacker.
