In planning mode - how much budget should I keep in mind for Pakistan - any experiences?

I travelled from Islamabad to Hunza and was amazed at the low costs. Biryani plates were $2, chicken karahi with naan $5, and tea just a few cents. Rickshaw rides were $1.50, and tips were always small. My daily spend was around $28, with long bus rides adding a few dollars more. Hospitality was incredible - locals often insisted on paying. For planning, $25-30 daily covers meals, transport, and tips. Pakistan is one of the most budget-friendly places I’ve been.

Meals: $2-4 local, $6-10 restaurants. Transport: $1 rickshaws, $8 intercity buses. Tips: 5-10%. Safe daily budget: $25-30 for meals, rides, and tips. Add extra for sightseeing like Hunza Valley, which involves higher transport costs. Pakistan is extremely cheap for food and daily life, but the infrastructure means some trips take time and energy. For a month, $800 is enough for comfort.

I budgeted $35 daily in Pakistan and ate very well. Restaurant meals in Lahore were $5-6, cafés with coffee $2-3, and taxis $3-5 per ride. Intercity buses like Daewoo were $8-10. Tips were light, 10%. At this budget, I could enjoy restaurants, private taxis, and even short excursions. Pakistan is incredibly affordable compared to anywhere else in Asia. $30-40 per day gives you comfort without worrying.

Pakistan is one of the cheapest destinations I’ve visited. Street meals like biryani or kebabs cost $1-2, and restaurant dinners rarely exceed $4-6. Rickshaws are $1-2 for short rides, and intercity buses cost $5-10. Tips are small, usually 5-10%. On a budget, you can live on $15-20 per day for meals, local rides, and tips. Pakistan’s hospitality is huge, and often you’ll get treated by locals. It’s perfect for long stays if you’re careful with safety and stick to recommended routes.
