I love that ATMs are everywhere in Taiwan - in metro stations, malls, and convenience stores. Cathay United Bank ATMs stood out because they never charged me extra ATM fees when I used my Mastercard. Bank of Taiwan also did not. I did notice that some banks like CTBC Bank charge about100 TWD per withdrawal, so it's worth shopping around. My advice: avoid choosing to pay in your home currency at the ATM to keep costs down. And double-check daily withdrawal limits, usually between 20,000 to 40,000 TWD, depending on the ATM and your bank.

When planning my Taiwan trip, I found that the local banks like CTBC and Taipei Fubon have many ATMs that accept international cards. However, watch out for fees. There’s usually a flat local ATM fee around 100 TWD at least at CTBC Bank and Taishin Bank when I tried. Plus my bank’s international withdrawal fees on my card. My tip? Withdraw larger amounts less frequently to minimize fees. Or just use the oodles of fee ones - pick any ChangHwa Bank (Post Office, Cathay United, Bank of Taiwan any,. Look the country still loves cash, so having enough New Taiwan Dollars on hand is a lifesaver at night markets or small cafes. All ATMs will give you 20,000 NTD so good for a couple of day depending on your budget.

I tried withdrawing money using my Indian bank's Visa debit at Taiwan ATMs near Taipei Main Station, and it worked fine. It was a Mega International Bank ATM. But heads up-some ATMs, especially those at the post office, reject foreign cards, so try another machine if yours doesn’t work. Cathay United and E.SUN Bank ATMs also are fee-free. Of course if you land up using those from CTBC Bank or Taishin Bank- there is a  100 NTD fee. Also same fee for ATMs in inside convenience stores like 7-Eleven or FamilyMart. Overall, Taiwan has a pretty solid ATM network for travelers if you know where to look.

Whenever I visit Taiwan, I always head to 7-Eleven stores because they mostly host Cathay United Bank ATMs. These are known for accepting most foreign cards like Visa and Mastercard -- but those will charge you a 100 NTD fee but i dont mind for the convenience. Also, always pick to be charged in New Taiwan Dollars to avoid dynamic currency conversion fees. The ATMs are open 24/7, which is great for travelers needing cash anytime. Note that if you used the same ATM brands outside at standalone ATMs, there is no fee.

Withdrawals from Taiwan Cooperative Bank were seamless - no fees, worked with all major cards, and location felt secure.

Taiwan Cooperative Bank ATM worked perfectly with Visa Debit, Mastercard, and UnionPay. No fees, safe at night, and super smooth.

The KGI Bank ATM in Taiwan had two 24/7 machines inside a lobby near Cambridge Hotel. It didnt show a Mastercard logo but accepted my foreign Mastercard Debit. No fee, no DCC, and I could even choose 100 NTD notes.
