Dont want to carry too much or too little. Whats the average cash people carry when travelling around Libya?
I budgeted LYD 55 daily during a week-long trip around Libya’s coastal cities. I dined at casual restaurants, took taxis around crowded markets, and visited museums. Sometimes I tipped drivers in cash, which was expected.
My experience in Benghazi cost me roughly LYD 45 each day, including meals, taxis, and entrance fees. Places like the Greek Orthodox Church and the Corniche were highlights but sometimes added to the expenses. I stayed in small hotels which kept lodging affordable.
I stayed near Bab al-Azizia and usually spent about LYD 50 daily. Food at local cafés was affordable, but taxis weren’t cheap, often LYD 10-15 per short ride. ATMs worked well around city centers, but carrying cash gave me peace of mind since cards aren’t accepted everywhere.
When I traveled around Tripoli, I found that budgeting around LYD 40-60 per day worked well for a comfortable stay. This covered meals at spots near the Mediterranean Street, taxi rides, and some sightseeing like the Red Castle Museum. Hotels like the Corinthia take a big chunk of the budget, so if you stay in guesthouses, you might spend less.
