Is it better to pay taxis in Lesotho with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?

When in Lesotho, always be ready with cash to pay for taxis. Most drivers don’t accept cards or payment apps. I stayed near Maseru and withdrew rand at local ATMs for taxi fares.

Lesotho’s taxis don’t usually accept cards or digital payments. I mostly used cash and it was simple enough. ATMs are scattered but get your cash before jumping into a taxi.

The taxi scene in Lesotho is mostly cash-based. No mobile payment apps or cards accepted as far as I saw. Minibus taxis want cash upfront, so plan accordingly.

In Maseru, taxis mostly work on cash only. I tried paying with a card once, but the driver didn’t have a card reader. So, it’s best to withdraw some loti or rand from ATMs before your trip and carry cash.
