Is it better to pay taxis in Guinea with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?

I found taxis in Conakry are all about cash payments. No card machines, no app options. Local currency (GNF) is the way to pay, so always keep some handy.

In Guinea, definitely stick to cash for taxis. Most drivers won’t take cards or any kind of mobile payment. I frequently withdrew cash from Ecobank ATMs for my taxi fares.

Guinea taxis don’t really accept cards or apps. I tried a few times but always got told cash only. Bring enough local currency or euros when you arrive so you don’t get stuck without cash.

In Conakry, taxis mostly want cash, especially for short rides. Payment apps or cards are very rare among drivers. I kept local francs on me and used them for taxis. It’s safer and faster that way.
