Is it better to pay taxis in Gabon with cash, or do drivers accept cards or payment apps?
Gabon taxi fare is mostly cash-only, especially in smaller towns. I used CFA francs from local banks and never saw card payments accepted. It’s best to prep cash before you need rides.
From my trip, always have enough cash for taxis in Gabon. Drivers don’t commonly accept credit cards or apps. ATMs are around but limited - better to be prepared with cash.
In Gabon, cash rules for taxis, especially outside Libreville. I tried to pay with a card once, but the driver wasn’t set up for it. Mobile payment apps aren’t a thing here yet for taxis.
Taxi drivers in Libreville almost always want cash. I didn’t see any card readers or mobile app payments. Paying in Central African CFA francs cash is typical. Bring cash beforehand since ATMs can be unreliable sometimes.
