Can I use a card to pay for taxis in Morocco, or should I carry local cash?

Cash is king here. I kept a 200 dirham bundle just for taxis and resisted the stress.

I mostly used government-regulated petit taxis in Fez and they were cash only.

Tried to pay with card in Marrakech once, driver told me it wasn’t working. Cash saved the day.

In larger cities like Casablanca and Rabat, some larger taxis or those booked through apps may accept cards. But most street taxis are cash only
