RE: Accept or Decline Conversion at ATMs in Ecuador - What should I choose?

Yeah, “Accept” sounds good but it’s a trick. You basically gave the ATM permission to overcharge you a little. Always decline that stuff.

RE: Exchange USD at airport or withdraw from ATM in Bolivia?

Airport exchange gave me like 6.3 when the real rate was over 6.8. Never again. ATM outside the terminal was way better.

Bolivian banks aren’t always up to date with tech.

RE: Cash per day in Bolivia?

I had like 100 BOB on me most days. Ate street food, used colectivos, didn’t do much shopping. Was enough unless I joined a tour.

RE: Do local taxis in Bolivia accept card or only cash?

Nope, don’t expect card readers. I always carried small notes just for rides. Most drivers don’t even have change for big bills.

RE: Is American Express (Amex) accepted in Bolivia?

Used my Amex at a hotel in La Paz and that’s about it. Restaurants, hostels, tour companies,, all asked for Visa or cash. Definitely bring a backup. :...

RE: Safe to withdraw money late at night in Bolivia

Tried to use a BNB ATM at 10 pm in Cochabamba once. Didn’t like the vibe at all. Ended up going back in the morning instead. Not worth the stress.

RE: ATM swallowed my card in Bolivia

Yeah BANCOBISA was chill. Better than the sketchy ones near the market.
