About to travel abroad - which card do you advice - revolut, wise, n26 or monzo?

I travelled with Monzo, Wise, and Revolut through the Balkans this spring. Wise gave me the best exchange rate for withdrawing local cash, especially in Serbia and Albania. Monzo worked well in shops and let me split bills with friends easily. Revolut was hit or miss - worked fine in major cities, but failed on some smaller ATMs. All three are decent, but if I had to pick just two, I’d say Wise + Monzo. N26 doesn’t support UK accounts anymore, so no point trying to sign up now.

Used Monzo and Revolut through Morocco, Spain, and Turkey recently. Both worked fine, but Monzo’s app is smoother, and they’re better for customer service. Revolut annoyed me with random freezes. N26 isn’t even available to new UK customers anymore, so it’s a non-starter. Wise is great if you’re withdrawing large amounts or paying in other currencies. My setup now is Monzo for spending, Wise for big conversions, and I ditched Revolut. If you only want one, Monzo is the least stressful.

Living in Portugal and bouncing between Schengen countries, I’ve been relying on Wise + Monzo. Wise has the best rates and lets me hold multiple currencies - saved me a lot when booking Airbnbs in euros. Monzo’s solid for everyday payments and budgeting, especially in cafes and shops. I wouldn’t recommend Revolut unless you’re on the paid plan - the free tier’s ATM limit is too low. If you’re looking for the best card for UK travellers abroad, Wise for conversions, Monzo for daily use.

I’ve used both Monzo and Revolut while travelling across Southeast Asia earlier this year. Monzo is great for everyday payments, and the app alerts are instant. But Revolut gave me better exchange rates when converting currencies during the day, especially when I needed local cash. I ended up using Monzo for meals and Revolut for ATMs. N26 pulled out of the UK market a while ago, so it’s no longer an option if you’re based here. If you want one card, Monzo is super user-friendly. But I’d carry both if possible.
