Is it safe to withdraw cash in Brunei or not?

I was staying in a quiet residential area and didn’t spot many ATMs nearby, especially not open late. But in the city center, access was simple, and machines worked flawlessly.

I tried an ATM inside The Mall in Gadong just before it closed. Staff were friendly, and the area was spotless. Honestly, Brunei felt like one of the safest countries I’ve visited - I never worried once about nighttime errands.

Brunei has excellent infrastructure. I withdrew cash from a BIBD ATM at a petrol station around 9 PM - smooth, no fees on my card, and well-lit. Most places accept cards, so ATM use isn’t constant, but it's there when needed.

I used a Baiduri Bank ATM in Bandar Seri Begawan at 10 PM. The area was very calm, and the machine was attached to a bank branch. The interface was in English and Malay, and my foreign card worked fine. ATM safety in Brunei at night is high - the city is known for its cleanliness and low crime.
