Is it safe to withdraw cash in Saint Barthelemy or not?
Used an ATM next to the Shell gas station - worked fine with my Visa, but the screen was sun-faded and hard to read at night. Bring a flashlight or phone torch if you're using that one.
Docked here for a few hours and dashed to the ATM near the ferry pier at 8 PM. The line was mostly yacht crew. Very safe, quick, and multilingual interface. Machines can run out of small bills by night though.
The island is tiny, and most ATMs are near boutiques or groceries. I used one inside a pharmacy that closed late - it had A/C, lighting, and even a bench. Nothing sketchy here. Just check the withdrawal limits - some cap at €200.
I withdrew euros at a BNP Paribas ATM in Gustavia around 9 PM. It was right by the marina and surrounded by open shops. ATM safety in Saint Barthelemy at night was a non-issue - it felt more like a high-end European village than a Caribbean island.
